    Good Afternoon:

The IRS posted Filing and Payment Deadline Questions and Answers today. The Q&As address the federal filing and payment extensions to July 15th due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. They also include information on the additional extension to Oct. 15th, first quarter estimated tax payments, IRAs and HSAs. For those questions that are not addressed in the Q&As, please know we are working hard to provide answers as quickly as possible.

We also have a new IRS.gov page on mission-critical functions of the IRS and provides an overview of changes related to IRS operations and guidance for taxpayers during this period. One question we are hearing is addressed on the “IRS Operations During Covid-19: Mission-critical functions continue” page and I’m highlighting it here:

Stimulus, payment checks: No information available yet:

At this time, the IRS does not yet have any information regarding stimulus or payment checks, which remain under consideration in Congress. Please do not call the IRS about this. When the IRS has more specific details available, we will make it available on the special coronavirus page.

We will continue to monitor issues related to the COVID-19 outbreak, and post updates on our special coronavirus page at IRS.gov/coronavirus.

Thank you for your patience and support!!

    Everyone stay safe!!
