The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Save Small Business Initiative continues to roll out important information and updates. Small business owners across America are fighting to continue to keep their workers employed and their dreams alive. The COVID-19 Pandemic and economy have already made many businesses across the nation, and even here in Cedar Park close their doors. We are supporting the U.S. Chamber’s commitment to mobilizing and maximizing the impact of the nation’s response. According to the Texas Tribune, a Federal Judge opened a path for a massive expansion in absentee voting in Texas by ordering that all state voters regardless of age qualify for mail-in ballot voting during the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to his order, voters under the age of 65 who would not ordinarily qualify for a mail-in ballot would now be eligible.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved terminating the County’s Local Disaster Declaration stating the County still falls under Governor Abbott’s orders.

As Williamson County continues to reopen businesses, the Williamson County Justice Courts are preparing to open their courtrooms. The eviction moratorium issued by the Texas Supreme Court ended on May 18th. The Williamson County Justices of the Peace are in agreement that JP court hearings will not commence in Williamson County until after June 15th, unless the case is considered an “imminent threat.” Jury trials will not commence until further guidance has been received by the Office of Court Administration.

There are many resources for you available through the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce and our network of partners. The US Chamber of Commerce has several helpful guides to help you work through some questions you may continue to have.

They have a list of resources, webinars, research and advocacy for small business. Many of these links we have shared in the past, but it is always a good refresher to know what is available to you 24/7 as a member of the Cedar Park Chamber. To find out more, please click on the links below.

As the weather warms up, so does the business community. Businesses have been waiting for months to open their doors and we are seeing more of those businesses be able to do just that! We are excited to help you make that announcement if you have a “COVID-19 Back to Business” Special of some sort. We have been sending out these types of emails for our retail and even healthcare businesses over the last few weeks. You should have received one yesterday in your email. If you are interested in participating, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber of Commerce with your special – we will get it on our next email.

Be safe and be kind to one another!
